REAL places in Harry Potter you can visit! Part 2: Hardwick Hall

Hardwick Hall (aka Malfoy Manor)

This is the second installment in my ‘Harry Potter’ blog series – you can read the first one on Malham Cove here.

For my birthday this year my amazing boyfriend, James, took me on a surprise trip to Hardwick Hall in Chesterfield. If you’re a Potter fan I probably don’t need to tell you that this beautiful building features in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 as Malfoy Manor!

Ticking off all of the Harry Potter filming locations has been at the top of my travel list for a while now, but there are a few other good reasons why you should add this lovely location to your own travel list…

It’s a National Trust spot!

If you’re a National Trust member then you’ll already know that you can get in here completely free of charge! At the time that we visited, only James was a member, but it wasn’t long after this trip that I decided to join up too. Sidenote: I’ve got a blog post detailing more about the National Trust membership coming very soon!

There are beautiful grounds to explore too

Not only is the Hall open for you to visit, filled with extravagant tapestries and furniture on each floor, but the beautiful gardens and surrounding grassland are all waiting for you too.

Walking to The Hardwick Inn

Extend your day and grab some food at The Hardwick Inn

The Hardwick Inn has some delicious food and drink on offer, plus it is also within walking distance from the Hall! However if you prefer to drive there are car parking facilities available.
